The Proof-of-Skills protocol

The Proof-of-Skills protocol

With the rise of new technologies, we are observing an interesting change in working paradigm. New professional roles are being created, while new forms of cooperation between companies and professionals are changing the working scenario, with flexible jobs, freelancers, remote workforce, etc.
As a result, the last 10 years have seen a significant growth of new skills required, in a strongly competitive environment. Traditional education models seem to be outdated, as an incredibly fast technological progress challenges the ecosystem to provide a quick professional empowerment, to stay up to date. Profiles research is becoming more complex, as a strong cross-functional background is needed to succeed. Banking industry, for example, does no longer need employees to be only financial geniuses, as they also have to deal with the significant innovations brought by new technological solutions, such as Fintechs and Blockchain.

Furthermore, for any industry, there is a specific set of soft skills required, which are often more linked to the personal interests and behaviors of a professional, than to his/her education. At the end, to succeed in our career, we all need a strong motivation and passion. How can HR managers spot the perfect profile for a job and how can an applicant be unique? The only way is a reliable, trustworthy skills certification process.
Every professional or recent graduated needs to build his/her own reputation, through Talent Branding, a methodology that focuses in applying branding techniques to enhance human talents.
Forget about obsolete resumes, welcome into the era of Proof-of-skill!

Introduction to Proof-of- skill protocol

Proof-of-Skill represents the reputation related to every specific skill an individual has. It is non-tradeable and handles skills validations as traceable annotations on the Ethereum Blockchain.
This groundbreaking protocol aims to build a universal and evolving Human Skills Ecosystem that will change the way we showcase and boost our talents.
It creates the standards that will replace resumes and will convert our unique combination of talents into our main asset.
How it worksProof-of-Skill works as reputation and, as a result, it is cumulative without any predefined cap. A talented individual will perennially have the evidence of his/her skills registered into the Ethereum Blockchain.
The protocol unifies and tracks the validation of any skill acquired, improved or applied across the applications of the ecosystem by means of smart contracts.
Just as an example, a user can acquire a new skill on his/her favorite e-learning platform, then improve it on another one, then collaborate in an open source project and do his/her first gig on a freelance platform gaining Proof-of-Skill on each of them and automatically building its reputation. Reputation that it’s owned by the user itself (avoiding data ownership by centralized institutions), is portable and is publicly accessible by anyone.
But how can Skyllz transfer credibility and trust among the ecosystem?
Raters. Raters are experts in a specific area or skills set (enough Proof-of-Skill) that have enough credibility to review and validate other users’ performances (enough Proof-of-Skill as raters).
A Rater could be any user that meets the requirements. Raters act as oracles of the ecosystem, reviewing and rating (of course) other users.
The process takes place anonymously and validations have to be agreed by, a least, three Raters. This procedure guarantees a reliable and objective evaluation, not influenced by any bias, only given on the base of succeeding in a specific action.
This will be covering a broad range of skills, e.g.: business development, coding (languages x, y, z,…), community management, leadership, conceptual thinking, gaming abilities, etc.
Metrics and records of accomplishment of exceptional achievements will help users stand out of the crowd. The more Proof-of-Skill associated to his/her skills a user has, the more likely he/she will become an expert in a specific area.
The Proof-of-Skill of every skill stored by any user will be publicly visible and hereunder shareable (via its Ethereum address).
We believe that all individuals are unique and have something that makes them valuable to someone and to something. In addition, sharing is part of the human being. Social recognition, status and esteem is received as a consequence of displaying certain characteristics, reaching certain achievements or engaging in certain activities.
Skyllz believes in positive human skills and only records exceptional achievements on the blockchain.
Why Blockchain?
Proof-of-Skill as a concept only makes sense if it is publicly accessible by anyone who needs it, reaching its maximum potential when trustworthiness and immutability play together to ensure that you are capable to track and share your skills. Those characteristics are inherent to Blockchain.
Professional reputation will be tokenized.
Users will be rewarded, upon their success, with tokens they will be able to cash or to use to invest in new skills learning, improvement or application. In the meanwhile, users’ reputation will grow.
A real and reliable way for an individual to invest in his/her own talents, transforming skills in their main assets.
And that’s just the first step. Skyllz wants to step on to accomplish its mission of converting people into their main assets…
